Infant & Pediatric Therapy in Burlington, Colorado
Sometimes you notice subtle differences about your child long before you know what they mean.
Sometimes you notice that something is off long before you know what to call it.
Maybe feeding is harder than you expected. Your baby strongly prefers one side, seems uncomfortable in certain positions, struggles with tummy time, or has difficulty settling. Maybe you've already addressed a tongue or lip tie, but things still don't seem quite right. Or perhaps your child is getting older and communication, eating, regulation, movement, or interacting with others isn't unfolding as easily as you expected.
Sometimes there isn't one obvious problem at all.
You just know your child seems to be working harder than they should.
I provide infant and pediatric therapy in Burlington and throughout eastern Colorado, bringing together my experience as a speech-language pathologist and Registered Craniosacral Therapist with developmental, feeding, sensory-motor, reflex, and body-based approaches.
You don't need to know exactly what kind of therapy your child needs before reaching out.
Support From the Beginning
Early concerns don't always fit neatly into a diagnosis.
Parents are often the first people to notice subtle differences in their babies.
You may notice that your baby:
-
consistently prefers looking or moving toward one side
-
seems tense, uncomfortable, or difficult to settle
-
struggles with tummy time or certain positions
-
has difficulty with feeding or coordinating sucking, swallowing, and breathing
-
continues to struggle after a tongue- or lip-tie release
-
has difficulty transitioning between sleep, feeding, play, and rest
-
seems disconnected from parts of their body or has difficulty organizing movement
-
isn't progressing through early feeding, movement, or communication milestones as expected
-
simply seems to be working harder than you think they should
You don't have to wait until those differences become significant delays before becoming curious about them.
Sometimes early support is simply about helping a baby find greater ease and organization while development is unfolding.
Infant Bodywork & Developmental Support
Babies develop through their whole bodies.
Feeding, breathing, movement, regulation, sensory processing, connection, and early communication don't develop independently of one another. When one area is difficult, it can affect many others.
My work with infants may incorporate Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, developmental speech-language and feeding knowledge, MNRI Reflex Integration, sensory-motor support, and parent education, depending on the needs of the individual child.
Rather than beginning with the assumption that one isolated symptom needs to be “fixed,” I look at the larger developmental picture.
What is this baby already doing well? Where are they working harder? And what might help development become a little easier?
Some families come because there is an identified feeding or developmental concern. Others come because something simply doesn't feel quite right and they want another knowledgeable set of eyes on their baby.
Both are valid reasons to reach out.
Speech, Feeding & Developmental Therapy
As children grow, early differences can show up in many different ways.
I provide pediatric speech therapy and feeding support in Burlington and eastern Colorado for children experiencing challenges related to:
-
speech and language development
-
feeding and oral-motor development
-
social communication and interaction
-
sensory processing and body awareness
-
regulation and participation
-
motor foundations that support communication and feeding
My approach looks beyond whether a child can perform a particular skill and considers what may be making that skill difficult in the first place.
For some children, traditional speech-language therapy is exactly what is needed. For others, communication or feeding challenges make more sense when we also consider regulation, sensory-motor development, reflex patterns, postural organization, relationship, and the child's ability to feel safe and connected within interaction.

Care Doesn't Have to Follow a One-Size-Fits-All Schedule
Not every child needs the same frequency, duration, or type of support.
Some families may benefit from a focused period of therapy. Others may need periodic support as their child develops. Some children benefit from ongoing speech-language therapy, while another family may simply need assessment, education, bodywork, or guidance about what to watch next.
I work collaboratively with families to determine what makes sense for the individual child rather than assuming that every concern requires the same treatment model.
When appropriate, I also collaborate with other providers involved in a child's care.
A Whole-Child Developmental Perspective
I'm Morgan Hickey, CCC-SLP, RCST, a speech-language pathologist and Registered Craniosacral Therapist with more than 16 years of experience working with infants, toddlers, children, and families.
My background includes pediatric speech-language pathology, feeding and oral-motor development, early intervention, infant mental health and attachment, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, MNRI Reflex Integration, and sensory-motor development.
That combination influences the question at the center of my work:
What might be making development harder for this child?
Rather than looking only at an isolated symptom, I consider the child within the larger developmental system—communication, feeding, movement, sensory processing, regulation, relationship, and the body.
